Visitors are advised to take every day at their leisure and be refreshed by the invigorating alpine breeze. After the exertions of the day, go back to Methven where after ski activities are fun and relaxing with a lot of first-class restaurants, friendly local pubs, bars, and entertainment.
Located in the center of the North Island is Mount Ruapehu which is arguably the home of New Zealand's longest, biggest, and highest ski regions. Ski New Zealand is the only volcano located on two areas for skiing areas that can be got at with a single lift pass. These two ski areas are Turoa on the mountain’s south-west and Whakapapa on the north-western sides of the mountain. These resorts tout the lengthiest season, from the middle of June until the middle of October and sometimes there has been Christmas skiing, even during the middle of summer.
